February 2, 2012 Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery
“Someone’s gotta help me dig.”
Josh Tillman has had an interesting career. He played drums for the band Saxon Shore, released a few great folk albums as J. Tillman and joined Fleet Foxes as their drummer. Recently, Tillman announced a new change: he left the Fleet Foxes to pursue his solo career under the new moniker Father John Misty. And with his new name, comes a new song and a new style. ”Hollywood Forever Cemetery,” which takes its name from a grave site for the stars is a departure from Tillman previous solo work. While it retains the somberness of his folk albums, the sound is much rockier and could easily be mistaken for a Neil Young song if it wasn’t for Tillman’s own unique voice. Regardless, the song is pretty enjoyable for a song about death and disappointment. Listen to the song below and look for it on the Father John Misty debut Fear Fun on May 1st.
