April 6, 2011 Cloud Cult – Unexplainable Stories
“Swear to God I fought the good fight,
always waiting for the coming of morning”
I feel like Cloud Cult is a seriously underrated band hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. They’ve been around for more than 15 years now, and in 2010, released their tenth album entitled Light Chasers. If you’re unfamiliar with their music, they play their own unique style of semi-orchestral indie rock/pop. What is really appealing to me about their music is the raw emotion and passion palpable in all their recordings. The band owns, designs, and publishes their own albums (all done in their renewable, sustainable-energy based recording studio). Cloud Cult has released several distinct concept albums over the past fifteen years (my favorite being The Meaning of 8), but the band’s 2010 release Light Chasers is similarly an experience to be consumed as a whole. The songs are composed with shared sounds and general themes and I can’t recommend this album enough. Check out the opening song “Unexplainable Stories” below. – Jon The Wolf
